Wisconsin Avenue Reconstruction

HEI was selected by the City of Peoria to provide Phase III engineering services for this $4.6M, DCEO funded, urban street reconstruction project from McClure Ave. to Nebraska Ave.
The project included granular embankment, PCC pavement with aggregate subbase, HMA resurfacing, curb and gutter, storm sewer system including drywells, PCC sidewalks, PCC driveways, sod, and decorative pedestrian lighting.
HEI provided a resident engineer, construction inspectors, and materials testers to complete daily inspection and materials testing including concrete testing, nuclear density testing for embankment, aggregates, and HMA, quantity and materials documentation utilizing CMMS, change orders, pay estimates, and final project closeout.
The project was located in a residential/commercial area so property owner coordination was a critical aspect of the project. HEI was responsible for leading property owner coordination efforts including daily contact with business owners and routine contact with residents to keep them updated on driveway access disruptions, mail delivery, and garbage pickup. HEI efforts maintained support throughout the project and minimized complaints to city officials.
