HEI provided a Resident Engineer and construction inspectors for this 1 mile long urban 5’ lane roadway reconstruction project. This $5 million, federally funded project extended along Old Galena Road from Boy Scout Road to Cedar Hills Drive and 1600’ of Cedar Hills Drive. The project included complete removal of the existing roadway and storm sewer system, storm sewer, curb and gutter, subbase, PCC pavement, full depth HMA pavement, traffic signals, roadway lighting, earthwork, pavement markings, and landscaping. In an effort to maintain traffic flow around the Caterpillar, Inc. complex, a detailed staging plan was implemented with continuous coordination with Caterpillar representatives as well as new releases for the general public.
