Nofsinger Road Realignment
HEI provided Phase III services for this $6.9M federally funded roadway realignment project from north of US 24 to Cruger Road in Washington, IL. The project consisted of reconstructing and converting the US 24/Nofsinger Road intersection from a two-way stop to a signalized intersection, and realigning 0.6 miles of Nofsinger Road.
The project included pavement removal, earth excavation, field tiles, aggregate subbase, curb and gutter, full depth HMA pavement, PCC jointed pavement, HMA shoulders with rumble strips, PCC sidewalk, pre-cast box culverts, storm sewer system, sanitary sewer system, recessed epoxy and modified urethane pavement markings, and traffic signals HEI provided a Resident Engineer, construction inspectors, and material testers to oversee construction.
The HEI staff was responsible for construction inspection, CMMS entries, daily diary, quantity documentation, traffic control inspections, erosion control inspections, cement stabilization DCP and nuclear density testing, and HMA and earth nuclear density testing and concrete testing. Due to the project being funded with federal funds, the HEI Resident Engineer routinely coordinated with IDOT construction field engineer, materials section, and documentation section.
