US 20 Reconstruction

HEI was selected by IDOT - District 2 as part of a team for various Phase III services. Under this various contract, HEI provided a construction inspector for this 6,500’ long, $31.5M urban reconstruction project on US 20 from Main Street to Gear Street in Galena, IL.

The project consisted of complete street reconstruction and structure replacement under a multi-phase staging plan including 60,000-cy of earth and rock excavation, sodding, landscaping, new curb and gutter with storm sewer system, PCC pavement with aggregate subbase, HMA resurfacing, PCC driveways, PCC sidewalk, PCC shared-use path, water system including mains, services, and hydrants, sanitary sewer system, precast box culverts, cofferdams, temporary soil retention system, decorative faced PCC/soldier pile retaining wall, segmental block wall, grooved in pavement markings, highway lighting, and traffic signals. The HEI construction inspector was responsible for daily construction inspection, quantity and material documentation, and materials inspection and testing.
