I-80 Resurfacing/Reconstruction

Hutchison Engineering, Inc. (HEI) provided Phase I and II engineering services for the I-80 resurfacing/reconstruction project located in Rock Island and Henry Counties. Work entailed a 1.75 miles roadway resurfacing section, two roadway reconstruction sections totaling 1.0 mile and replacement of the dual structures carrying I-80 over the BNSF Railway, Barstow Road and the Green River. The reconstruction includes significant vertical profile adjustments to provide necessary clearances. Also included in the project, is the extension of the box culvert carrying the interstate over the Hennepin Canal Trail and drainage improvements. A component of this project included the vertical profile study of a county highway (Barstow Road) that was routinely closed due to Rock River flooding. The study involved a HEC-RAS modeling of the Rock River for several county highway improvement iterations.

Phase I work which included Project Report, Interchange Type Study, Drainage Study, Structural TSL, Realignment Alternatives, Environmental Coordination, and MOT study.

Phase II work: Roadway Reconstruction Design, Traffic control plan, Structure Design Drainage Design.
