Services - Roadway Planning & Design

Full details

To begin the roadway design process we first listen to our clients to determine their needs. Next, a detailed field survey is completed and this information is returned to our office to find our design parameters. Using this data along with agency standards and guidelines, preliminary plans and environmental documents are created.

With agency input, the preliminary plans and documents are further refined until a final set of plans and contract documents are developed.

These final plans are then sent to the client for his/her letting of the project and beginning of construction.

Some of our past designs have included:

Caton Farm Rd / IL 59 in Will County

US 67 South of Jacksonville

Another positive feature of our roadway department was the incorporation of Context Sensitive Solutions to our projects. CSS was developed by IDOT to better involve the local communities in projects that may affect their immediate future. Through the incorporation of community leaders, local businesses, and city and county officials our roadway engineers have a better understanding of what should be addressed in the planning and design of a project.

Hutchison Engineering's roadway design options are not limited to freeways and expressways, we also perform roadway engineering for: county and township highways, urban street development, Motor Fuel Tax street maintenance, roadway pavement drainage, Intersection Design & Signalization, and Pavement Design Rehabilitation.
