Surveying
Surveying is a key component in the development and completion of any engineering project. Our survey department provides an extensive amount of land surveying and data collection experience. Five Professional Land Surveyors with an average of 20 years of licensed experience have the practical knowledge to perform any project accurately and efficiently. From property and A.L.T.A. surveys to construction layout, we can provide any number of services to meet the needs of our clients.

Structural Engineering
Hutchison Engineering provides structural engineering services with an emphasis on highway structures. Numerous structural projects throughout the state of Illinois have been developed, designed, and executed under the guidance of our staff. The dedication and experience of our “Structures Team” to provide a quality and cost effective design has satisfied our clients year after year. Our services include, but are not limited to, bridge hydraulic studies, planning, estimating, design, inspection/observation, structural condition evaluation, etc.

Construction Administration / Inspection
Our firm has transformed what solely was a construction and material inspection department into full contract management service staff. Over the past several years our staff of Professional Engineers and Technicians has built a reputation of integrity and attention to detail that is necessary for the execution and documentation of construction contracts. Numerous major state and local water and highway contracts have been managed, inspected, and documented by our employees with exceptional results.
Our staff of IDOT certified and experienced technicians, with an average of well over 20 years of experience, can provide the following testing services: soil proctor determination and analysis, concrete sampling and testing, soil and asphalt nuclear density testing, and structural erection testing.

Airport Planning & Design
At Hutchison Engineering, airport services have long included airport planning, site improvement design and construction observation/inspection. Over 40 years of proven experience has made our firm viable in the development, rehabilitation, and construction of airports throughout Illinois. Our planning services include: airport layout plans and reports, environmental assessment reports, project development and cost opinions in coordinating with state and federal agencies, land acquisition and navigation easements, airport hazard zoning, farming plats and property maps.

Site Development & Design
Site design and development is another facet of Hutchison Engineering that can be seen in communities throughout central Illinois. Through the collaboration of our Licensed Engineers with city officials, architects, and developers, we strive to produce a design that is both feasible and appealing to our clients. Coupling sound engineering principles with economically viable solutions, our firm provides services in accordance to the various local codes and zoning restrictions. Subdivision layout and plats, water detention, parking lots, and rezoning plans are examples of some of the services we have provided our clients.

Roadway Planning & Design
Transportation engineering is one of the cornerstones of our firm that has helped us to serve our clients for over 60 years. From preliminary studies and environmental documents to final plans and specifications, we are able to provide a working knowledge of what it takes to produce a quality and economically viable roadway design. Throughout the years a majority of our roadway clients have been governmental agencies including IDOT, ISTHA, Illinois Counties and Townships, Municipalities, Park Districts, and Forest Preserves. Through these projects we have forged strong relationships with our clientele in understanding what they require and request during the review and development of final design plans. As with most of our design projects, construction observation/inspection services are offered to insure the project is constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications.

Water and Sewer Design
Along with roadway design, water and sewer system design has been an integral part in making Hutchison Engineering what we are today. As environmental regulations change to improve standards of water and wastewater distribution and treatment, our engineers continue to update their solutions and designs to meet these requirements. A number of small rural communities and large urban areas have provided us with projects that create the need for a design unique to a given situation. Outside of distribution and treatment design, Hutchison Engineers also have drafted numerous water resource solutions to meet today’s environmental standards.
Construction Inspection/Observation has been provided by our firm on a majority of our past water and sewer designs to insure all specifics from the plans and specifications are met in the field.
