Doug Pagel was given a Certificate of Appreciation Award from the Illinois Department of Transportation for being the Resident Engineer on a project selected for Contractor of the Year Award for Urban Improvement. The project was the Jacksonville Turn-a-Round Downtown Plaza Project. This project was selected from several statewide candidates by a committee headed by the Department.

We are pleased to announced that Dan Draper has joined the HEI Team in Shorewood. Dan comes to us from another consulting firm where he managed both phase I and phase II engineering projects. Prior to that, Dan held a variety of positions at IDOT/ District 3 including Resident Engineer, Bridge Engineer Inspection Specialist, Acting Land Acquisition Engineer and Program Development Project Engineer. He is a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois.

We are pleased to announce the addition of Brett Wedemeier. Brett, a May graduate from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, comes to us from Galesburg, IL. He will be taking on his new assignments in the Shorewood office.

Hutchison Engineering has announced the recent addition of Stefan Mierzwa to its staff. Mr. Mierzwa is a registered engineer intern and is currently pursuing a master's degree in civil engineering at North Carolina State University. His emphasis is in structural engineering. His primary responsibility will be in the structural department in the Jacksonville office. He is a 2005 graduate of Jacksonville Routt High School and graduate with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville in the fall of 2009. Mr. Mierzwa resides in Jacksonville.

We are pleased to announce that effective December 1, Ken Lang has joined the firm. Ken received his BSCE from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and worked 30 years for IDOT. He started his career in the Bureau of Construction and retired as Bureau Chief of Local Roads, all in District 3. Ken, his wife Debra and family reside in Ottawa.

Hutchison Engineering would like to announce the recent addition of Heather Leskanich to its staff. Heather is a 1996 graduate of Bradley University with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. Before coming to Hutchison Engineering she had worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation since 1992. During her time with the Department she spent a year at the Central Office/Bureau of Bridges, and the remainder in various bureaus in District 3. The majority of her career has been with District #3, Bridge & Hydraulics Unit.

Hutchison Engineering has announced the recent addition of Timothy Darr to its staff. He is a 2000 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor in Computer Science in 2005 from the University of Illinois Springfield. His emphasis was network administration & security. His primary responsibility will be maintenance and administration of the network and computer systems in the Jacksonville & Shorewood offices.

He is a 2005 graduate of Jacksonville High School and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in May. His emphasis was transportation engineering. Olson is a registered engineer intern. His primary responsibility will be in the transportation department in the Jacksonville office. Olson resides in Jacksonville.
